Shows
Part of the fun of keeping pedigree pigs is the ''combat'' of showing your animals against other breeders, In the main we are an odd lot!! We help one another in preparation and competition, with elder statesmen always willing to pass on experience to novices. One of the highlights of the year is the Junior Handler competition at the Royal Lancashire Show where encouragement is the order of the day.The show circuit has been devastated this year due to the Foot and Mouth disease, but the photograph shows ''Ben'' and my daughter Mandy at 2000 RoyalLancs. Junior Handler Class. One sad note is that Chapel Stockbroker to give ''Ben'' his full title, was sold to breed in the North of England but has since been culled due to Foot and Mouth. This vile disease does not spare show winners!
