The arable crops grown in rotation on the farm are potatoes, peas and wheat. There are two small meadows of grassland, part of which is home to the Chapel Herd of Pedigree Essex and British Saddleback pigs. The farm is also home to H.Booth and Son,Potato merchants, who supply chip shops with quality frying potatoes throughout Manchester. The farm is situated to the south west of Carrington Moss and the Red Rose Forest.Moss lane a busy link road passes through the farm and there is much unauthorised public access with it's associated problems. Red Brook a tributary of the river Mersey, flows through the farm roughly east-west and allows for both irrigation and easily mannaged drainage systems. |
